Free Beats

An absolute bagful of free tracks this week hand picked by the Bot searching deep to bring you some, well, deep tracks. Dig it.

First up is a track from young producer Panda with a riddim beyond his years. ‘Fate’ crafts deep vibes around a classic movie sample. Love this

Next theres a double header from the mighty Quantum Soul starting with the roots vibes on ‘Karnak’

Before a collaboration with FatKidOnFire sees ‘Reminisce’ get a release and we’re doubly happy as this track could have been lost for eons

Moving on theres Numbernin6 with an awesome track in ‘Four’ which is presented in all its raw glory. Loving this track

Following up these beauties we have Geode with ‘Transfix’ made available by the Deep Heads crew. A lush track. Smooth as you like

Some badman junglist vibes from the Hi Fidel Cartel with ‘How Far’. One to make you skank around the room. Or in your car. You get the idea!

Then we have a deep house remix of the awesome Submotion Orchestra. Opta Block takes control and remixes ‘Blindspot’.

This download made available exclusively by Groovement which you can find here.

Wiley was never one for resting on his laurels and judging from the continuous stream of free downloads cropping up on his twitter account that is not about to change any time soon. He also gives plenty of opportunity to young up and coming talent – Priceless is the 16 year old producer behind ‘Crystal Clear’, a massive free download which cropped up on www.grimeforum.com and sb.tv recently.

Priceless has just released the ‘Team Priceless EP’, a selection of 8 Grime flavoured instrumentals (which includes the instrumental from the track above) for MC’s to use as they wish – provided they credit the producer. Grab it here.

Thanks to Grant Brydon of sb.tv for putting us on to this next freebie. Another fresh young producer making waves on the London scene is Distinction – And this Usher refix is his most recent in a run of free tracks. Fantastic sounds here – Those who caught him down at Fabric recently will surely not have been disappointed.

Ingredients EP – Mise En Place | Various

Robot Bodypop favourites Ingredients records presents the first of two various artists EPs set for release in 2012. ‘Mise En Place’ is the 2-part series and showcases some of the finest music signed to the label so far. Kodo’s ‘The Jackal’ has been remixed by none other than dBridge. The flip see’s duo Kinetic & Mark Recoil make an exciting debut with ‘Cold Streets’ which is a murky minimalistic tune, with awesome bass work and the Ingredients vibe. The release also see’s Villem‘s first ever remix & what a choice! Foreign Concepts ‘Jaipur’ was a huge track last year on the Recipe Book album and this remix has been supported by Friction & Break. Stealth & Stylus are another duo making a debut and ‘One Way’ is an awesome vocal led track with crisp beats and deep bass tones. Set to drop on September 17th on vinyl & digital. Bag this exciting release.

Mampi Swift & Charge Recordings – The History

Being a junglist the name Mampi Swift conjures up memories of dancefloor madness. Not just from the man himself and his mixing style but also the depth of his productions. After a short break and fresh for 2012, it brings a smile to my face to say Mampi Swift & Charge Recordings are back. His brand new album entitled ‘The History’ is already receiving huge DJ support from the scenes heavyweights. There’s no doubt that with a killer LP and some huge remixes of the Charge back catalogue that Swift is ready to turn DnB on its head once again. Something I’m finding incredibly welcome. We’ve been lucky enough to recieve a sampler here at the Robot Bodypop and the track ‘Gangster’ which Bailey spun recently on 1Xtra is a monster.

Another favourite is the mighty ‘Warrior code’ by Gridlok and the absolute tearout ‘Class Of 1999’ by NC-17 & Mr Explicit. It’s also the name of one of my favourite films. Back of the net.

You can cop previews of the album here at Mampi’s Soundcloud page

An incredible return to form and we are eagerly anticipating the full release and are hoping to chat some breeze with Mampi in the coming weeks to find out where he’s been hiding so keep your eyes peeled.

Wolf Cub – Desverre / Roland Garros | Fat! Records

Fat! Records artist Wolf Cub brings the mellow vibes with this brand new two track release. All set for cold chilling, we are given an anaesthetic sound perfect for a bothered head after a long day. Let the sound take you and even if you particularly feel like dancing you will soon find yourself bopping along happily to these laid back sounds. Smooth stuff.

Silent Dust – NSY004 | None60 Recordings

Our favorite paragons of deep, dark and minimal drum and bass are back with a fresh batch of releases for their resident label None60 this September.

The first of these, catalogued NSY004, is a two track voyage through an epic galaxy of futuristic hip hop and breakbeat. ‘Martyrs’ is breath-snatchingly deep with spaced out samples that bounce off into the ether as the track gradually builds and develops to an epic conclusion. The flip – ‘Population Me’ – is a warm and twisting future hip hop head nodder which features the rythmic poetry of US lyricist Selfsays.

Thankfully Silent Dust are not the types to employ generic production tricks to pull you in – Their compositions have a tempered style and graceful execution that will have your head moving before you even know it yourself. No jarring drops or maximised-to-the-limit repetitive drum programming here, thankyou. Subtlety is key. They skilfully tease your ears until you are ready for the climax, which never fails to satisfy. And there is more to come; Keep your eyes on Robot Bodypop for further releases!
