If you are looking for some cheap and cheerful guaranteed entertainment on the 1st of September Joshua Brooks plays host to the first birthday party of the only retro gaming/dubstep night in Manchester – BitLord. Preceded by a tournament of classic arcade games, headline DJ’s on the night include the excellent Sleeper (Chestplate), Rob Sparx (Z Audio), Mrs Jynx (Planet Mu) and Eden Zoo (Boka). The undercard isn’t to be sniffed at either featuring one of our favourite local DJ/Producers Metrodome and his MC Black Josh. With drinks promotions on the night, the only thing at stake here is your gaming pride – So you’d better get practising them hadoukens!
In just a week’s time, Circus are coming through with a great opportunity to see out an eclectic summer with some solid club vibes from four big name international house DJ’s right here in the nation’s capital. I mean London.
Liverpool’s Yousef, Chile’s lady of the dance Dinky and Dutchman Matt Styles all lay it down at The Egg from 11 til 7am.
As they’ve had a recent refurb the atmosphere should be tip top with great music guaranteed – If you like your house and you are out in London next weekend you would be foolish to miss out on this spectacular event.

One year since it’s immaculate conception, Robot Bodypop pull out all the stops to bring you a fitting celebration to end a great first year of podcasting. We have been very lucky to host and interview some amazing acts in our ongoing Transmit mix series and we hope to build on that into 2013. We are massively appreciative of our listeners, friends, relatives, producers, artists, labels and promoters that have helped and supported us along the way. To show how humble we are, we have stitched together an hour long back to back mix of some of our keenest selections to date for free download. Check the First Annuary Podcast feature below.
As for the show itself, 1nejack opens on the deep and emotional side of things with artists like Purity Ring, Maribou and 123MRK all gracing the playlist. Killian comes in a dutty dancefloor style – Major Lazer, Strategy and eccentric reggae don Lee Scratch Perry get a good rotation in his half of the show, but that’s not before we bring out this fortnight’s Survivor. Clear out your ears, open your mind and enjoy.

Big up yourself if you have been listening since our first show dropped here last August. If you are one of the many people who regularly return here each fortnight then this mix is for you! Please be kind enough to show click ‘like’ and your apprecation by sharing on whichever social networks take your preference.
We know you are going to love this mix which is made up of only the creme de la creme – the most hitting productions ever featured in our back catalog of shows. We’ve got Transmit contributors Clueless, Janner and REKchampa, stand out remixes from Distance and Scuba along with some great home grown talent in the shape of Chimpo, Metrodome & StakOne – Make sure you don’t miss out. Download below in full 320kbps.
In the gratis section this fortnight we have a heavy sack of loot for you to plunder. Support the artists where you can by liking and following their pages and maybe telling all your friends how great they are.
Starting off with this surging emotional future garage track from Kiro Rox we know we’ve struck gold already.
A few tracks into the mix and we’re in to a stunningly funky Maribou remix of Submotion Orchestra‘s track ‘Blindspot’. Stupendously good sounds.
From there we are hitting you square in the face with more freeness from Detz. This one is called ‘August’ and comes as part of a great ongoing series of free tunes based on calendar months. Click buy for the download.
Next is an apparently unfinished track from Inxect. To be honest, I can’t hear anything that needs changing. This is perfectly dark and eerie.
Next it’s Revilo with a sizzling track off the Disturbing Noise compilation which is available entirely for free if you just go and like their facebook page.
Finally Dublin based bass workers Your Local Vicar drop ‘The Grey Area’ in preparation for their forthcoming Rapture EP coming out on the Phantom Hertz label.
Estate Recordings goes from strength to strength showing that the recent Umbro bursary was well deserved. The new single, their 7th release, drops on the 20th August and it’s a killer.
On the A side it’s the first release from super-producer and selector Chimpo and ridiculously good vocalist Fox. They go by the name of The Eyes and it’s a fantastic mix of talents with each artist going back to the roots of music with the vibes on this plate. Both tracks found their way onto the playloist of this weeks Robot Bodypop radio show.
‘Harder’ is a reggae anthem with a hook, which should have people singing throughout the summer. On the flip you have ‘Come Again’ which switches up the vibes with a dancehall riddim this time featuring Strategy found recently rocking speakers worldwide with ‘Marka’
Talented video work from Joe Gavin once again. Really excited to see whats next from both Estate Recordings and The Eyes.
Anyone who listens to the Robot Bodypop show knows we always like to throw in something completely different. Persuing Bandcamp led me to ECID and it was immediately apprent this was what I was looking for. ‘Swagger Wagon’ is a 6 track freebie with 3 vocal tracks and then the same 3 instrumentals. The title track featuring Derrill Pounds & Leif sits somewhere between several bass heavy genres. Coupled with a vocal with that wraps around the sounds and doesnt for one moment take a back seat to the music, it gives this production a ridiculously gritty feel. ‘The Future Is Free’ & ‘Tomorrows Astronaut’ features guests David Mars and AWOL respectively. This has been on rotation in the car for days. Free as well. Unless you want to bung them some $.
The Minneapolis based producer & MC dropped this in 2011 in anticipation for his LP ‘Werewolf Hologram’. His sound can not be contained and in his own words:
