Robot Bodypop 29.09.12

Bringing you a shorter podcast than previously, we have decided to change up the format for the coming weeks. Almost all of the content in this podcast is featured in some form in the articles below, so have a scroll down while you listen – after you’ve grabbed a download of the show that is.

Featuring exclusives from Silent Dust, REKchampa and Clueless plus some massive free tunes including an EP from Metrodome and a one off track from the new album by Rudi Zygadlo, there is no drift from our focus on quality music. This is just the beginning of a shift in emphasis that we think will help to make this site one of the best bass music blogs out there. Enjoy!

Love Sundered – Silent Dust
Jaded – Akin
Bartender’s Theme – REKchampa
Yeah – Metrodome
Perfect World (Metrodome Remix) – Gossip
Wool (Janner Remix) – Bunzer0
Russian Dolls – Rudi Zygadlo

Metrodome – Burgerz N Chipz EP | FREE DOWNLOAD

18 year old Ruud Whiting has been a promising up and coming production talent in the Manchester bass scene for some time. We have always known he had it in him, but it has taken until now for his talents to be realised in this, his first ever EP.

Entitled ‘Burgerz & Chipz’, it is intended as a loose homage to the Manchester takeaway establishments which form the staple diets of many a discombobulated club-goer in the scramble for a meat and bread based treat. Gourmet it may not be, but at 4am it might as well be Gordon-fucking-Ramsey.

Staying true to the musicality which has helped set him apart from other producers, this EP contains 11 tracks of bass drenched melody, with influences ranging from blues, rock, dubstep, and hip hop molded to fit his in-your-face yet warm and smooth signature sound. The resultant groove is a funky party vibe, superbly listenable and highly recommended. Pick it up for free right here on mediafire.

Bitlord 1st Birthday | Joshua Brookes, Manchester

If you are looking for some cheap and cheerful guaranteed entertainment on the 1st of September Joshua Brooks plays host to the first birthday party of the only retro gaming/dubstep night in Manchester – BitLord. Preceded by a tournament of classic arcade games, headline DJ’s on the night include the excellent Sleeper (Chestplate), Rob Sparx (Z Audio), Mrs Jynx (Planet Mu) and Eden Zoo (Boka). The undercard isn’t to be sniffed at either featuring one of our favourite local DJ/Producers Metrodome and his MC Black Josh. With drinks promotions on the night, the only thing at stake here is your gaming pride – So you’d better get practising them hadoukens!

Robot Bodypop 28.04.12

artwork by Mat Mcivor

Once again, all stops have been pulled out for the latest Robot Bodypop show and its a killer selection this week. Theres a number of exclusives from the young and incredibly talented local boy (to us anyway), Metrodome as well as Fracture with his forthcoming release on Warm Communications. Standing by these cuts theres the usual mix of freebies, notably this week from Fetch and Epoxy. No fillers on these shows with bangers such as the Doctor vocal cut, an oldie from SBTRKT and some other personal favourites. Last but not least its the frankly awesome Rekchampa with the latest Transmit guestmix and its all original work by himself and its representing the sound he’s working very hard to forge.

We Are – Roofout
So Clear – Commodo
Pilot Like This – Megalodon & Conscious ft. Doctor
Arpeggiated Goon – Keyed Up
Catharsis – Droid Sector & 3rd Eye
Cut Off – Epoxy
Sun For Days – Fetch
Laika – SBTRKT
Warewolf – Versa & Rowl
Nova – Burial & Four Tet
Lately – Fracture ft. Ella Jones
Tunnel Track – Fracture
You Look Better Dead – Amit ft. Rani
Acid Jackson – Boddika
You – Hatti Vatti (Phaeleh RMX)

Inviolable – Clubroot
Icarus – Peaman
For My Dogz – Rush’d
Standing There – Metrodome

TRANSMIT #5 : REKchampa

REKchampa – Cold Feet
REKchampa – You

METRODOME – Natural Flavour preview – Free EP forthcoming

Metrodome – The name has reverberated throughout Manchester circles for nearly ten years, and yet the protagonist is only 17 years old. His first gig was a Hip Hop set at Manchester’s Contact Theatre. It was 2002 and Ruud Whiting was still only 8 years old busting intricate DJ maneuvers and stunning the crowd with his skills behind the turntables. Since then he has rocked capacity crowds in some of Manchester’s biggest nightclubs – He was at Sankey’s Soap in 2006 supporting Rahzel and JS-1 and more recently a dubstep set at Hit & Run in 2009 supporting the massive act Flux Pavillion – yet after the show it was Metrodome with the ratings. The little scamp, he just cant help but impress.

Keep eyes locked on this blog for details of his upcoming free EP and peep this exclusive preview of the first track, a stunningly futuristic garage head nodder from a true natural talent.
