Robot Bodypop 17.2.12

artwork by Rudy-Jan Faber

Love is in the air and we at Robot Bodypop are getting set for some big changes. For one, Killian will soon be welcoming a smaller but even more badman version of himself to the world – so congratulations are in order. We fully expect the next show to be punctuated by infantile screaming and soiled nappies. No change there then.

Also on the next show we will be kicking off with the first of our Transmit Mixes. Norway’s Clueless will be blessing us with a 45 minute mix of funky future steppers. Now that’s big!

Back to this weeks show, and we have more exclusives from Mancunians Brero and Qualmsound, Mute & Mako plus a brand new one from Belgium’s Janner. Freebies come from Squelch & Clap, Lovesick Recordings, Dubs Alive Records and Requake,  We go deep, we go funky, we go filthy – and you love it.

Free Tunes

As it was their first birthday recently, fledgling label Squelch & Clap are giving away this bouncy pack of tunes comprising previously released originals and remixes. Featured artists include Tete De Tigre, Arcade, Kidnap Kid and 123MRK. We liked this compilation so much we have featured two of the tunes on this weeks show. Check it out and download the full shebang here.

And yes, we know, it was recently Valentine’s Day (can’t you see we themed the artwork this week accordingly?). So to drown out the sound of the couple next door fighting/going at it like rabbits we have this great 6 track giveaway from Lovesick Recordings.

Home to artists like Riskotheque, MarchMellow & Southbound Hangers, there have been some quality releases from this crew so far and this is set to continue. Download this consistently impressive EP via Surus here.

And we also have a lovelorn freebie from Belgian duo Requake entitled ‘Before Breakfast’. No wishy-washy sentimental bumslush from these two – it’s rather large. Click here for the download link.

Next up is the deep FatKidOnFire x Content collabo ‘Sulfur’. Eyes down for this one

and finally, a free track from Dub Alive Recordings. Bukkha comes with the root vibes in ‘Drift’. Bag it now to avoid disappointment.

Londy – Distant Love

Big fans of young Jamaican producer Londy. An incredible work rate and consistently throwing up quality tracks at at varying BPMs, he’s featured heavily on the Robot Bodypop. The latest EP, Distant Love.can be bagged via his Soundcloud page and all 4 cuts are lush. From the beautiful half step ‘Night’ with Ted Ganung to the rolling ‘Treat Her Good’ its a solid 4 track EP. Love these vibes. Fresh and uplifting. Don’t stall. And as the man himself says:

I’m always making love songs… and i blame this one special girl that lives many many many miles away from me! This EP is dedicated to all the Distant Lovers out there! Big Up ~Londy

Utopia Music 007 – Mute & Mako

Mako’s Utopia Music label returns with the mighty Mute alongside the man himself with 2 storming drum and bass cuts. Both featured on this weeks Robot Bodypop show.

First up is the atmospheric and moody ‘Cali Sleaze’. A future soundscape that we’ve come to love at the RBP.

On the flip its the techy and industrial roller ‘Always’. Heavy subs alongside vocal stabs coupled with a deep groove. Love it.

Released on 30th April. Bag it.

Schlachthofbronx

Here come two dutty dancehall riddims from Munich producers Schlachthofbronx. They’ve got an album due out on Disko B records in the near future called ‘Dirty Dancing’. ‘Slowine’ is featured on this weeks show and you can buy the single here. Big daddy riddims worthy of a purchase.

And if, like me, you have trouble with the pronunciation, this video may help you out;

Teknian – Firedance EP (Screwloose Records)

One of my standout releases for this month – Not for want of trying to secure promotional copies I have been waiting on this one for much of last year, in particular due to the inclusion of these two tunes.

I’ve hardly listened to the rest of it yet to be perfectly honest. Those two have been on constant rotation since I finally copped them on the 10th. That’s reason enough for me to urge you to buy it!
