ASC graces us with his second offering on Pushing Red and one of the strongest releases yet.
A fantastic follow up to his debut on the label and one that shows his versatility and strength for techno. ‘Proton’ starts off with chest thumping kicks and a clever undulating bassline as in true ASC fashion. Blips & bleeps weave in and out of the background before the snare drops in to take the track onwards. Will do damage on any dancefloor. ‘Electron’ is another deep techno piece. A solid 4/4 keeps the momentum strong with pulsating bass and smooth melodies. Body and mind music
Out now to purchase at all retailers holding down the Pushing Red sound.
2012 has been a fulfilling year for IM:Ltd and with the sonic summer being definitively over, the French based label gets back moodier than ever with ‘Junction 12’, a collection of 6 meticulously picked Drum & Bass tracks from some of the hottest talents on board that comes in the form of a 3×12” vinyl series. Disc 1 sees Berlin producer Es.tereo going back to some of his darker playgrounds with ‘Junction 12’, an autonomic influenced stepper forged on obsessive robotic vocals and industrial klanks. On the B side, French techstep veterans Kantyze deliver a surprisingly uncluttered roller named ‘Tough Breaker’. Simple & efficient.
With releases on labels such as Goldie’s legendary imprint Metalheadz , 2012 has been a wealthy year as well for Mortem as he returns to IM:Ltd with ‘Converter’, another brilliant track that won’t contradict his well earned reputation for creating music that causes serious damages on dance floors across the globe. The flip consist of ‘Amour King’, the first vinyl effort from Quartz , a new duo hailing from Cardiff.
On Disc 3, Gerwin steps up his game with ‘It’s All In Your Head’, a seedy piece of minimal tech funk. Once again, his ease and versatility definitively makes him one of the name to be watched out for in the coming months.
Last but not least, Belgian producer Atmospherix teams up with S-Vb for some ‘Modular Revenge’.
Raw sickness. Bag It
Welshman and Rude FM regular Chemical Allycomes to stage with his own brand new imprint Rooted Recordings. It’s a cut that takes a serious pop at the dancefloor. Kicking off with the Spirit remix of ‘Imagination Of Yourself’ from the man himself and Lady Flava, it’s a roller full of stabs and resonant horns to keep you moving whilst the flip sees Ukranian Fade pick up composer duties. ‘Insider’ sees warping b-lines and a host of spacefunk bleeps and bloops fll up the space before rocking the crisp amen breaks. A serious cut.

Regal Records returns maintaining the ethos of promoting fresh dance music from up and coming producers. This cut, the ninth release so far, sees South London’s Dub Motion at the controls with ‘Lucifer’ and ‘Red Stripe’. Two serious tunes which have already been gaining appreciation on the dancefloor and both tracks featured on the recent S.P.Y. Hospital podcast. Theres plenty of support in the scene too from the likes of Logistics, Cyantific, London Elektricity, Nu:Tone & Random Concept. Each track leans towards the darker side of D&B but each showing that Dub Motionhas a great deal to offer the scene.
Available to pick up on 12th November from Juno Download
Total Science presents the follow up the now classic seminal compilation album that encapsulated their vision of d&b way back in 2001. ‘Tuned In’ included the cream of the crop & the bright new stars of that era & now after over 10 years they’ve decided the time is right to do it again, piecing together a selection of their favourite artists including some newcomers. These tracks define the CIAsound, label and their definition of d&b as they feel it now & for years to come.
“Trends and fashions come and go within all the dance music genres but even after all this time there is still an underlying straight up timeless Drum & Bass sound & quality we feel & can’t be ignored which needs to be pushed forward and presented as a collection”
‘Tuned In’ featured the best of old skool new skool & unheard artists & thats the theory behind this album too, Calibre & Spirit even appeared on the first incarnation. ‘Tuned In 2’ features once again the cream of the crop & bright new stars of the future , Are you Tuned In ?

We’ve been pushing the Mars sound on the Robot Bodypop show and blog for some time now and it’s when gems like this are presented before you that you realise a label has come into it’s own. dRamatic & dbAudio are both present for plate 006 and the title track ‘Days Running Out’ evokes memories of a late 90’s/ early 2000 vibe DnB track but kept upfront with some smooth production and use of vocals. It’s a beautiful track and the drop break firmly puts me back 10 years. It’s like a session with a badman psychologist who makes you regress to when your soul was controlled by the dancefloor. Very welcome anyway.
On the flip, personal favourites Total Science come with a remix of ‘Far Away’. On the build it creeps in like an old friend, the vocals make you wistfully ignore the the fact that the drums control this one. A beautiful track with a ridiculous key change some way through that brings the whole track up. Amazing work.
Out on the 29th October and available at all good retailers.
