Robot Bodypop 12.05.12

Yes! The Robot Bodypop show once again. This weeks show does not deviate from the high standard we set ourselves with more killer bass music than you can shake a dub siren at. Delving into some old classics with a cut from Ratpack and brought right up to date with music from Razor Rekta, some roots influenced vibes from Jahtarian Dubbers, the mighty Tallan as well as the odd exclusive, Peaman most notably. As always theres freebies in there to get your grubby little hands on and keep your ears peeled for the competition to win tickets to Cable. This week we’re flying without a guest mix so its just the two of us carrying you through for 2 hours. Enjoy.

Theres a number of exclusives from the young and incredibly talented local boy (to us anyway), Metrodome as well as Fracture with his forthcoming release on Warm Communications. Standing by these cuts theres the usual mix of freebies, notably this week from Fetch and Epoxy. No fillers on these shows with bangers such as the Doctor vocal cut, an oldie from SBTRKT and some other personal favourites. Last but not least its the frankly awesome Rekchampa with the latest Transmit guestmix and its all original work by himself and its representing the sound he’s working very hard to forge.

Fracture – Lately / Tunnel Track

Texas based imprint Warm Communications latest cut is a double header from London based Fracture.  Label boss Heath is keen to keep the label diverse whilst pushing some of the finest producers around in Seba, Equinox and Resound to name a few and the new release from Fracture sits perfectly in their catalogue. Both tracks feature on this weeks Robot Bodypop show.

Up first its a sweet remix of Ella Jones’ ‘Lately’ which builds with nice vibes and a track here just in time for the summer.

On the flip the mood is darker with ‘Tunnel Track’ and it’s refreshing to hear D&B sounding this good again. Haunting pads with solid beats gets the head nodding and the feet moving.

Out on May 14th and both cuts perfect for the dancefloor or home. Or on the bus. Or toilet…………you get the idea.

Free Beats

Once again we come with more freebies to bag for yourself.

Up first is the mighty duo from NZ, Truth with a storming track. ‘Dangerous’ features Yayne on vocals. Its deep but the smooth voice rounds off the edges. Bag it.

A big and varied free package from Ovrkl got our attention in a big way. Grab the whole thing off bandcamp here

And big up Annie Mac for this freebie which was made available as part of her Free Music Mondays feature. Scrufizzer is shows us his lyrical skills on a fresh sounding beat.

More great music from Sangam – 4 tracks of sub zero vibes.

From the excellent Mad Decent label comes this jeffrees release from Bwana – Tight sounds.

Moving on we have a bass heavy number in ‘Still Love You’ by Heims Noise. Hailing from Sheffield and you know we love our Northern producers, pick this up as we’re not sure how long it’s going to be available for.

Finally there’s a frankly awesome Sade remix of ‘Pearls’ by duo Ab-Cent and Elski. Download limit already reached on Ab-Cents soundcloud page but theres still chance to bag it from Elski. Dig it.

Utopia Music & Diffrent Records

We’re lucky enough to get a heads up on forthcoming releases here at Robot Bodypop, probably because we’re badman selectors of awesome music. With a couple of exclusives this week you can check out when and where to pick them up, which is something you should do if you know whats good for you.

Diffrent Records comes with release 013 adding Jekyl with ‘Drainpipe’ and ‘Blabbermouth’ to the strong back catalogue. The latter features on this weeks show but both sides of this plate are heavy. Dark and moody D&B just how we like it with both tracks standing tall as a sidestep from the usual stuff being churned out. This gets a release on 7th May with both tracks there to preview. Get involved.

Big fans of Utopia Music at Robot Bodypop with plenty of releases featured in the last few months and Utopia Music 008, due out on the 7th May, sees Mikal return with ‘The Chant’ b2b with ‘Headbanger’. The A side featured this week shows why Mikals moves have caught the attention from fellow musicians Goldie and Break amongst others. Jungle vibes on both sides with a focus on slick drum patterns. A serious plate with no fillers . Going places this lad. No lie.

big up Example Media for the heads up. Serious roster going on over there:

DRS / Dub Phizix / Mako / Skeptical / Skittles / Strategy / Villem /

Diffrent Records / Dispatch Records / Estate UK / Ingredients Records / Mars Recordings / Mindset Records / Red Seal / Samurai Music / Soul : R / Symmetry Recordings / Utopia Music /
