Yes! The Robot Bodypop show once again. This weeks show does not deviate from the high standard we set ourselves with more killer bass music than you can shake a dub siren at. Delving into some old classics with a cut from Ratpack and brought right up to date with music from Razor Rekta, some roots influenced vibes from Jahtarian Dubbers, the mighty Tallan as well as the odd exclusive, Peaman most notably. As always theres freebies in there to get your grubby little hands on and keep your ears peeled for the competition to win tickets to Cable. This week we’re flying without a guest mix so its just the two of us carrying you through for 2 hours. Enjoy.

Dub All or Nothing & Chew the Fat! present The £5 Spring Sale | Friday 18th May 2012 @ Cable | Ticket Competition

Chew the Fat! saddle up to Dub All Or Nothing to offer another wallet soothing showcase of every facet of bass music, building on from the success of the hugely popular showcase the duo crafted in January. Once again the premise is simple; buy your ticket in advance or arrive before 11pm and it’ll cost you a mere fiver, all for an obscenely strong and wide-ranging smorgasbord of bass led sounds.

In the main room there will be an doubled up assault of drum and bass and dubstep to craft some speaker shredding sonics, headed up by Bar9. Whether applying their vision via remixes of Nero, Example, Eurhythmics and Does it offend you, Yeah? or their own patented floor slaying records ‘Midnight’ and ‘Murda Sound’, the deadly duo are a force to be reckoned with. Layering dense levels of warped noise and shuddering bass to create an intense and full frontal barrage of sound, it’s music that is not for the fainthearted and evocative of the sheer seismic power music can create.

Joining them will be West Country wizard Calvertron, a man whose sound has quickly caught the ears of an unbelievably diverse cast of jocks; Busy P, John Digweed, Tiesto, Benny Benassi and Fatboy Slim amongst his fans. Polish wunderkind Xilent is next up, his unmistakeable brand of D&B already seeing him find favour with Zane Lowe after the New Zealand DJ made his ‘Beyond’ track his ‘Hottest record of the World’ and praised it’s ability to marry dubstep and D&B.

Rednek return for after a scintillating performance back in January, hot on the heels of their new album which sees a release through Champion Records on the 28th May. Millions like Us are also in the building, their ‘Equinox’ EP released on Bristollian record label D-Style, with the final spotlight falling on Substantial Error, whose single ‘Sunshine’ opened up Skream & Benga’s takeover of the BBC R1 airwaves.

The second room will be hosted by Wandsworth music imprint Bullet Train Records. The brainchild of bass music pioneer Marco Del Horno, Bullet Train’s wide and varied output has seen them release a killer slew of singles combining deep house, electro and of course every crevice of bass music. Joining Marco in the room will be Moshi Moshi lynchpins Hot City, their latest single causing sever ruminations across the whole spectrum of bass music.

The room is rounded off by some of the lynchpins of both labels, with Bullet Train represented by the wide ranging palette of Last Japan, who’s collaboration with hotly tipped grime MC Trim ‘East’ has started garnering heavy plaudits from DJs and tastemakers alike. Maribou State are in the corner for Chew the fat, still fresh from the success of their ‘Olivia’ EP and video from January, with Woz completing the room.

COMPETITION TIME!

We are able to offer the chance to WIN two tickets to the aforementioned frivolities on this Saturday’s show, but if you want to be in with a chance you will have to tune in! That’s this Saturday right here on www.robotbodypop.com

Listen to the show to hear the question – you need to answer correctly in order to win. It’s multiple choice and frankly piss easy so just pick the right answer and email us with it at robotbodypop@gmail.com. Title your email ‘Competition’ to help us pick it out amongst all the spam and indecent proposals. We will randomly select one winner by Wednesday 16th May 2012 and get in touch on the email.

Good luck!!

Big up to Jimmy Coultas at Sentric Digital for the press release and tickets.

Kaiju, Mykur and TMSV

2 free downloads this week, both coming out of the shadows with some deep and creeping soundscapes.

First up is a track put forward as part of the Dispatch Recordings Octane and DLR sample pack competition. 40 samples were offered up for producers to make use of and Method One by Kaiju is a big favourite of us here on the Robot Bodypop.

Next is a track by Dutch duo Mykur and TMSV with Icarus. An exciting collaboration and the track was made available last month. Love this riddim.
