Bandcamp has fast become one of my favourite sources of both new and experimental music. The ‘Pragmatic Theory’ cut is one such download available right now on there. The vibe sees a collective of producers, samplers and beat maestros from around the world getting involvoled purely for the love of music. They take elements from Curtis Mayfield cuts and create whatever beats it inspires.
Its a 25 track release and all of them are available straight from the beatsmiths alike. They are bouncy, they push the stereo limit, they make you turn the bass down and right back up again,
Stream it, download it and listen in. Concept albums are rocking my world at the minute and what better way to get involved than this…..Its packed full of soul.
Texas based imprint Warm Communications latest cut is a double header from London based Fracture. Label boss Heath is keen to keep the label diverse whilst pushing some of the finest producers around in Seba, Equinox and Resound to name a few and the new release from Fracture sits perfectly in their catalogue. Both tracks feature on this weeks Robot Bodypop show.
Up first its a sweet remix of Ella Jones’ ‘Lately’ which builds with nice vibes and a track here just in time for the summer.
On the flip the mood is darker with ‘Tunnel Track’ and it’s refreshing to hear D&B sounding this good again. Haunting pads with solid beats gets the head nodding and the feet moving.
Out on May 14th and both cuts perfect for the dancefloor or home. Or on the bus. Or toilet…………you get the idea.
