Free Beats

A varied selection up for grabs this week but as fresh as always and most importantly, legal. Robot Bodypop is a hotbed for links to free riddims in case you didn’t know. but you do now.

Up first is a chilled number from our very first guest on the Transmit Sessions, Controlled Kaos. It’s some months old now but we’ve never played it and it is a great track, so here it is.

We are loving Kusto’s output at the moment. A spate of free tunes is complimented by this latest VIP available via soundcloud. Check it.

And we have something a bit special this week. Ahead of their new single coming out on Moshi Moshi next Friday bass music badmen Hot City have crafted this rerub of Nas’ track ‘The Don’, and it is fresh as a bagel. Pick it up here. Keep your ears pricked for more releases, as these guys are dancefloor kings!

Next it’s Baobinga, Kahn and Rider Shafique with ‘Original’ courtesy of the Red Bull Music Academy. A fresh vocal cut and I’m not sure how long its going to be up for free so bag it while you can.

Lastly, on a more experimental tip is the free EP from Acre with the Be Mine In Outer Space EP.’Deaf Ears/ Swirling Lights’ features on this weeks show because its wicked, frankly.

Just how sick is Bandcamp for freebies? Very.

Transmit Sessions Vol 4 | N. Killah and NRealm Recs

ON THIS WEEK’S SHOW:

With the Transmit Sessions we’re trying to get people to represent their individual sounds and vibes be it through music they make or put out there for others through imprints and releases. Russia’s N.Killah keeps it all in house. Both D.J. and producer he also founded and runs the mighty N.Realm Recs label. The label is dedicated to, in his own words, ‘true dubstep’.

Keeping to the deep vibes but not scared to experiment, the label has already stacked up an impressive release roster with plenty more to come throughout 2012. The most recent release is N.Killahs impressive ‘The End’ E.P

On top of all this, N.Killah also manages to find time to put out the 4VIVBES podcast which is packed full of plenty of bass music featuring some of the labels other artists. The most recent show sees Forensics in the mix with a serious selection of tracks from all corners.

4VIBES Podcast>

N.Killah kindly took a minute to talk to us:

1. how did N:realm recordings come to be? have you always wanted to run your own label?

N;realm has been created absolutely spontaneously. First I released two of my own tracks. Then my friends have supported me and gave their tracks for free.

2. You appear to be very proud of what you’re building with N.Realm Recs. Tell me about the dubstep scene in Russia

The stage exists. There is a lot of awsome artists, various podcasts, radio shows…
But much less fans of true dubstep. 80 percent of dubstep people likes Skrillex
and think that this is a gold standard of fat sound.

3. Social networking means its easier to build a more personal relationship with followers of your music. How important is it for you to keep in close contact with fans of your music?

I always keep in it. For example in time of tour after each set I always buy some beers and buzz with “mortals” I always answer on messages in social networks.

4. whats your favourite track on your label?

Hard to make a choice ’cause I like everyone. But leaders is:
1 Roofout – Best Spring
2 Crispo – Moments
3 N.Killah – Maybe

5. what producers should we look out for?

N’Killah! No kidding is Faib, Pixelord, Roofout, Crispo (CRSP), Reixtra.

6. whats your favourite track in your record collection and why?

Tes La Rok – Cold Blooded – I never get tired of that track!

7. what are your influences?

Everything around… Music, movies, videogames, smoke

8. Do you think its important for producers to try new things musically?

To do something new is important in any deed. Progress is our life!

9. When are you bringing Robot Bodypop to Russia?

When russian people stop sacrifice their kids in the name of Skrillex.
But I told about RBP to my fans and friends.

10. Whats the biggest animal you can throw over a crossbar?

Dog Sony ERS-7W AIBO ))

Free Beats

Once again we come with more freebies to bag for yourself.

Up first is the mighty duo from NZ, Truth with a storming track. ‘Dangerous’ features Yayne on vocals. Its deep but the smooth voice rounds off the edges. Bag it.

A big and varied free package from Ovrkl got our attention in a big way. Grab the whole thing off bandcamp here

And big up Annie Mac for this freebie which was made available as part of her Free Music Mondays feature. Scrufizzer is shows us his lyrical skills on a fresh sounding beat.

More great music from Sangam – 4 tracks of sub zero vibes.

From the excellent Mad Decent label comes this jeffrees release from Bwana – Tight sounds.

Moving on we have a bass heavy number in ‘Still Love You’ by Heims Noise. Hailing from Sheffield and you know we love our Northern producers, pick this up as we’re not sure how long it’s going to be available for.

Finally there’s a frankly awesome Sade remix of ‘Pearls’ by duo Ab-Cent and Elski. Download limit already reached on Ab-Cents soundcloud page but theres still chance to bag it from Elski. Dig it.

Utopia Music & Diffrent Records

We’re lucky enough to get a heads up on forthcoming releases here at Robot Bodypop, probably because we’re badman selectors of awesome music. With a couple of exclusives this week you can check out when and where to pick them up, which is something you should do if you know whats good for you.

Diffrent Records comes with release 013 adding Jekyl with ‘Drainpipe’ and ‘Blabbermouth’ to the strong back catalogue. The latter features on this weeks show but both sides of this plate are heavy. Dark and moody D&B just how we like it with both tracks standing tall as a sidestep from the usual stuff being churned out. This gets a release on 7th May with both tracks there to preview. Get involved.

Big fans of Utopia Music at Robot Bodypop with plenty of releases featured in the last few months and Utopia Music 008, due out on the 7th May, sees Mikal return with ‘The Chant’ b2b with ‘Headbanger’. The A side featured this week shows why Mikals moves have caught the attention from fellow musicians Goldie and Break amongst others. Jungle vibes on both sides with a focus on slick drum patterns. A serious plate with no fillers . Going places this lad. No lie.

big up Example Media for the heads up. Serious roster going on over there:

DRS / Dub Phizix / Mako / Skeptical / Skittles / Strategy / Villem /

Diffrent Records / Dispatch Records / Estate UK / Ingredients Records / Mars Recordings / Mindset Records / Red Seal / Samurai Music / Soul : R / Symmetry Recordings / Utopia Music /
