Set to drop on the 2nd June, US DJ & producer nonXero draws inspiration from reggae, grime, dubstep and future garage for this release on In The Mix records. ‘Black Art’ will be nonXeros 3rd album and its a reflection of his time spent in Detroit, Michigan. Wanting to identify the relationship between art, music and urban culture, nonXero uses samples recorded by himself to illustrate what he calls his ‘adventures’. Several stand out tracks such as the ‘Down Under’ VIP and ‘Will You Be Mine’ but its a solid collection of tracks that builds and builds. Bag it.
Also be sure to check out his soundcloud page as theres a stack of music on there.
Mako’s Utopia Music label returns with the mighty Mute alongside the man himself with 2 storming drum and bass cuts. Both featured on this weeks Robot Bodypop show.
First up is the atmospheric and moody ‘Cali Sleaze’. A future soundscape that we’ve come to love at the RBP.
On the flip its the techy and industrial roller ‘Always’. Heavy subs alongside vocal stabs coupled with a deep groove. Love it.
New Years Eve approaches and hundreds upon thousands of bass-hungry
Mancunians are looking for somewhere to skank their boots off into 2012. They need look no further. This night of positive vibes looks back over 20 years of clubbing history – from Ragga Dancehalls in Jamaica to Acid raves at the Hacienda!
Unity Radio‘s Sunday regulars the pRp Show will be kicking off proceedings with their Punky Reggae Party at around 10pm, so don’t be late – DJ’s Eezer, Tommy T and Dylan Reed will be bringing positive vibes from early doors with a funky medley of Roots, Ragga, Soul and Hip Hop.
Mancunian Way’s Marlon De Blanco will be hitting up the decks as we move into the midnight hour with back to back Club Classics. Here he is displaying his Old Skool credentials in the Hardcore Uproar music video featuring Trigga & Sushi (he’s the one in the acid face T-Shirt).
1NEJACK comes in later on with an explosive hour of up front 90’s Garage and Drum & Bass sounds. For those who miss the good old days of clubbing, when tunes were tunes, this is going to bring out some great memories. For those who missed out on the 2-step revolution the first time round, here is where you can get your education!!
Then finally from 1am the legendary DJ Mark XTC will be blowing the doors off the mother sucka with a HUGE Old Skool House set as seen at Eurocultured – Expect to hear tunes to excite your inner raver; It’s going to be like 1999 all over again!
Young producer Dan Clapham aka Mr Skank Sinatra is but one of the young producing talents from Manchester and after only producing for a little over a year he is celebrating his first release. ‘You’re Right Here’, featured on the Robot Bodypop show, got a release this month on Morbit Records and we are loving it. Classy dubstep vibes on this cut with a remix on the flip are hopefully a taster of whats to come. There’s also a serious amount of freebies on his Soundcloud which show that this chap is capable of carving his own sound with future-led beats alongside root sounding dubs. We’re excited to keep an eye on his future projects.
Also forthcoming is ‘Herbalist’ which is a deep and relaxed roller. Check it out along with everything else
