Ingredients EP – Mise En Place | Various

Robot Bodypop favourites Ingredients records presents the first of two various artists EPs set for release in 2012. ‘Mise En Place’ is the 2-part series and showcases some of the finest music signed to the label so far. Kodo’s ‘The Jackal’ has been remixed by none other than dBridge. The flip see’s duo Kinetic & Mark Recoil make an exciting debut with ‘Cold Streets’ which is a murky minimalistic tune, with awesome bass work and the Ingredients vibe. The release also see’s Villem‘s first ever remix & what a choice! Foreign Concepts ‘Jaipur’ was a huge track last year on the Recipe Book album and this remix has been supported by Friction & Break. Stealth & Stylus are another duo making a debut and ‘One Way’ is an awesome vocal led track with crisp beats and deep bass tones. Set to drop on September 17th on vinyl & digital. Bag this exciting release.

Mampi Swift & Charge Recordings – The History

Being a junglist the name Mampi Swift conjures up memories of dancefloor madness. Not just from the man himself and his mixing style but also the depth of his productions. After a short break and fresh for 2012, it brings a smile to my face to say Mampi Swift & Charge Recordings are back. His brand new album entitled ‘The History’ is already receiving huge DJ support from the scenes heavyweights. There’s no doubt that with a killer LP and some huge remixes of the Charge back catalogue that Swift is ready to turn DnB on its head once again. Something I’m finding incredibly welcome. We’ve been lucky enough to recieve a sampler here at the Robot Bodypop and the track ‘Gangster’ which Bailey spun recently on 1Xtra is a monster.

Another favourite is the mighty ‘Warrior code’ by Gridlok and the absolute tearout ‘Class Of 1999’ by NC-17 & Mr Explicit. It’s also the name of one of my favourite films. Back of the net.

You can cop previews of the album here at Mampi’s Soundcloud page

An incredible return to form and we are eagerly anticipating the full release and are hoping to chat some breeze with Mampi in the coming weeks to find out where he’s been hiding so keep your eyes peeled.

The Eyes – Harder

Estate Recordings goes from strength to strength showing that the recent Umbro bursary was well deserved. The new single, their 7th release, drops on the 20th August and it’s a killer.

On the A side it’s the first release from super-producer and selector Chimpo and ridiculously good vocalist Fox. They go by the name of The Eyes and it’s a fantastic mix of talents with each artist going back to the roots of music with the vibes on this plate. Both tracks found their way onto the playloist of this weeks Robot Bodypop radio show.

‘Harder’ is a reggae anthem with a hook, which should have people singing throughout the summer. On the flip you have ‘Come Again’ which switches up the vibes with a dancehall riddim this time featuring Strategy found recently rocking speakers worldwide with ‘Marka’

Talented video work from Joe Gavin once again. Really excited to see whats next from both Estate Recordings and The Eyes.

ECID – Swagger Wagon

Anyone who listens to the Robot Bodypop show knows we always like to throw in something completely different. Persuing Bandcamp led me to ECID and it was immediately apprent this was what I was looking for. ‘Swagger Wagon’ is a 6 track freebie with 3 vocal tracks and then the same 3 instrumentals. The title track featuring Derrill Pounds & Leif sits somewhere between several bass heavy genres. Coupled with a vocal with that wraps around the sounds and doesnt for one moment take a back seat to the music, it gives this production a ridiculously gritty feel. ‘The Future Is Free’ & ‘Tomorrows Astronaut’ features guests David Mars and AWOL respectively. This has been on rotation in the car for days. Free as well. Unless you want to bung them some $.

The Minneapolis based producer & MC dropped this in 2011 in anticipation for his LP ‘Werewolf Hologram’. His sound can not be contained and in his own words:

“Ecid is the voice to kick a hipster to.”

Octane & DLR – Method… in the Madness

With releases on RunDNB, Audio Tactics and most notably Renegade Hardware and Dispatch Recordings, Octane & DLR are set to drop their long player on the 10th September on Dispatch Recordings. Pushing the limits with their cross-genre vibes has gained them huge support from their peers. Regular radio play comes as a result, as the sound they have spent the last 12 months meticulously carving is ridiculously fresh. The album features mouth watering collabos from Break, Cern and EBK as well as guest vocalists and MC’s Fokus, Kemo, Gusto and Marion.
To whet your appetite catch this preview mix as its absolute FIRE! Just when you thought you’d heard it all before.
