Robot Bodypop 01.09.12

artwork by Max Dean

This weeks Robot Bodypop show serves up more freebies than ever. Killian selects cuts from fresh producers Panda and Geode, a double header from Quantum Soul and some jungle vibes from Hi Fidel Cartel. They are stacked in between tracks that move through the vibes with some new beats and some oldies and this is topped off with this weeks Survivor.

1nejack moves in a different direction with some exclusive tracks most notably from Wolf Cub and Silent Dust. Theres some bassweight in there from RDubz, Eggchan and Major Lazor and a couple of grimy numbers from both selectors from Biome and Priceless. The latter featuring Wiley on mic duties.

No guestmix on this weekss selection as we have no space amongst all the beats we’re spinning but expect the Transmit selections to resume soon. Listen, share and enjoy.

Until Silence – That Shine b/w Hands Tied | RED010

Not ones for sticking to a particular genre or vibe, here at the Robot Bodypop we are feeling this cut from Until Silence which is on a deep house tip. His second offering on the mighty Pushing Red label and one of the strongest releases yet. ‘That Shine’ kicks off with pulsating kicks and a strong vocal commands your attention. ‘Hands Tied’ is straight up feel good house. A solid 4/4 keeps the momentum strong with soulful male vocals thrown on top. Smooth chords bounce with the deep bassline. Love this. Pushing Red is certainly doing all it can to stay a commendable label amassing a serious back catalogue.

Out now and available at any online music retailer worth its salt.

DVA – Pretty Ugly | Hyperdub

New from the Hyperdub label, DVA‘s debut is an eclectic, glitched out funky affair. Being as varied as it is it may not please everyone, but music is subjective so we try not to impose our judgements where we can help it. The track featured on this week’s show ‘Bare Fuzz’ is a dancehall influenced funky house banger. Make sure you check it. Loving this one off the album as well;

Jacques Greene – Concealer EP

If you are looking for a badman producer, Canadian Jacques Greene certainly resembles the e-fit.

Greene’s creations are always up front and ear catching – he has a knack of plucking teasingly familiar snippets out of old R&B or House tunes and recombining them into something fresh and unusual.

The highlight for me is the collaboration with Scottish minimal dubstep producer Koreless – If I was asked to come up with the most unlikely musical collaboration between two contemporary bass music producers of all time – I still wouldn’t have considered putting these two together – their styles are that diverse. Such a great feeling to hear their distinct individual soundscapes working perfectly together on the one track. Believe me, you need to bag this.

The Smashment – Mancunian Way & DJ Mark XTC NYE 2011

New Years Eve approaches and hundreds upon thousands of bass-hungry
Mancunians are looking for somewhere to skank their boots off into 2012. They need look no further. This night of positive vibes looks back over 20 years of clubbing history – from Ragga Dancehalls in Jamaica to Acid raves at the Hacienda!

Unity Radio‘s Sunday regulars the pRp Show will be kicking off proceedings with their Punky Reggae Party at around 10pm, so don’t be late – DJ’s Eezer, Tommy T and Dylan Reed will be bringing positive vibes from early doors with a funky medley of Roots, Ragga, Soul and Hip Hop.

Mancunian Way’s Marlon De Blanco will be hitting up the decks as we move into the midnight hour with back to back Club Classics. Here he is displaying his Old Skool credentials in the Hardcore Uproar music video featuring Trigga & Sushi (he’s the one in the acid face T-Shirt).

1NEJACK comes in later on with an explosive hour of up front 90’s Garage and Drum & Bass sounds. For those who miss the good old days of clubbing, when tunes were tunes, this is going to bring out some great memories. For those who missed out on the 2-step revolution the first time round, here is where you can get your education!!

Then finally from 1am the legendary DJ Mark XTC will be blowing the doors off the mother sucka with a HUGE Old Skool House set as seen at Eurocultured – Expect to hear tunes to excite your inner raver; It’s going to be like 1999 all over again!

Emmerson & Klauser: A Latin Thing

Meet Emmerson & Klauser, one of South America’s hottest Bass Music duos. Coming from Venezuela and Chile, these two DJ/Producers began their partnership in early 2011 at Santiago de Chile’s legendary Rewind parties.

United in their common love for huge subs and tropical rhythms, they’ve collaborated on original tracks and remixes, generating lots of buzz and serious dancefloor pressure all the way from Soundcloud to huge parties across South America, the US, and Europe.

More amazing freeness of a tropical nature. Why does anyone even buy music anymore? Check it out and get the zip file here.
