New from the prolific Slime imprint comes a fresh Parisian producer by the name of Voice Hands Machine with the ‘Cold Jam’ EP. This polished and swanky pop track is subject to bass heavy juke and deep house reworks from Jack The Hustler & mad:AM respectively. We fully expect all three tracks to become regular players so take our recommendation and cop it. You can grab this from Juno exclusively from the 21st.

Soft Focus by Vanilla
Beat tapes are something im getting increasingly distracted by, not least because of the groove they are offering but because its good to hear influences on people making the beats.
Recently the ‘Soft Focus’ tape by Vanilla has been ever present. Again, its a bewilderment that a 27 track album can be offered up for free or on a name your price basis, especially when the beats have this much soul.
Its clear to hear the influences on UK producer Vanilla and rather point to that I’d like to point at this release that keeps the head bouncing and the inner groove going from start to finish.
Cut up beats alongside warm vocals and grooves conjure up a fantastic brew. Bag it and try to listen from start to finish without rewinding to play, at least, more than one track twice. No chance!
A personal favorite for starters is ‘A Chance’
Inspiring stuff. Grab it.
Scottie Royal – Remixes
Once again, searching the web for some killer remixes and/ or productions, I was more than pleasantly surprised to stumble across a young producer from Charlotte, USA. Theres actually 6 pieces to pick up on his Bandcamp page but its this remix album I’ve fallen for.
Scottie Royal crafts Hip-Hop remixes that sit perfectly alongside the carefully selected vocals. I’ve had this on rotation in the car for the best part of a month and it still sounds fresh.
There’s an incredible amount of soul and funk on offer here and more than enough for you to realise that Scottie Royal is a proficient producer who clearly understands his music and his tools.
A personal favorite is the K-OS track, Burning Bridges.
Bag the whole lot and chuck him some monetary rewards because this guy is a badman.
Slime Presents ‘Basswave 2’ : 26 Tracks Of Next Level Bass | Slime Recordings
Featuring the best of their past 50 or so releases, Basswave 2 is the culmination of an outstanding year for Slime Recordings. The vibe is deep and eclectic with tribal, melancholic, soulful and heavyweight bases covered in the pick of the year’s releases.
Slime have had a swarm of impressive debuts this year, notably from the likes of Akin and Vausz to name just two – as well as a number of important releases from established artists such as Partyson and Totte. The bar is high, and that is reflected by the quality of the tracks on this compilation.
If you are new to this imprint then you could do much worse than start with this release – before you inevitably go sifting through their back catalog for their other quality releases.
Soundproof & Dubfreq – Bear Brawler/Aurora 7 | Soundproof Recordings
Soundproof and Dubfreq collaborate on this jagged and sinister dubstep release. Both tracks inhabit the same aural spectrum with guttural basses growling over ear-smashing drops, with some fantasitically intricate distortion going on. Bear Brawler is the louder piece, with Aurora 7 bringing a minimal deep space vibe. Highly recommended.
Bill Sykes – Dirty Old Man | TNC
Mancunian Bill Sykes stars as a filth-infested geriatric pest in this wickedly creepy new video. Eschewing Hip Hop in it’s purest form, this head nodding track is funkier than an unwashed catheter tube with Bill’s lyrical delivery coming grimier than your grandma’s windowsills. Help the aged and support this video!
