artwork by Mat Mcivor

Once again, all stops have been pulled out for the latest Robot Bodypop show and its a killer selection this week. Theres a number of exclusives from the young and incredibly talented local boy (to us anyway), Metrodome as well as Fracture with his forthcoming release on Warm Communications. Standing by these cuts theres the usual mix of freebies, notably this week from Fetch and Epoxy. No fillers on these shows with bangers such as the Doctor vocal cut, an oldie from SBTRKT and some other personal favourites. Last but not least its the frankly awesome Rekchampa with the latest Transmit guestmix and its all original work by himself and its representing the sound he’s working very hard to forge.

Free Beats

Just a few tracks for free this week but they are varied, solid and more importantly legal because thats how we roll on the Robot Bodypop show. Digging out the freebies so you don’t have to.

First up is a deep dubstep track from young Accrington based Epoxy named ‘Cut Off’. Clean production and fierce sounds make this a must-have. Bag it from the Autopsy Audio Soundcloud page and there’s plenty of other free cuts on there too. Indulge.

Next up is another example of why Bandcamp is a badman source for music both free and paid. ‘Sun For Days’ by Fetch features on this weeks Robot Bodypop show and comes part of a 5 track E.P entitled The Formula Vol.1. Summer vibes going on with some slick guitar hooks. Lovely warm riddim. You can bag it for free but it’s nice to chuck these guys even just a quid for their trouble. Do it. Do it now. All 5 cuts are dope.

Get involved.

Free Beats

Once again we come with more freebies to bag for yourself.

Up first is the mighty duo from NZ, Truth with a storming track. ‘Dangerous’ features Yayne on vocals. Its deep but the smooth voice rounds off the edges. Bag it.

A big and varied free package from Ovrkl got our attention in a big way. Grab the whole thing off bandcamp here

And big up Annie Mac for this freebie which was made available as part of her Free Music Mondays feature. Scrufizzer is shows us his lyrical skills on a fresh sounding beat.

More great music from Sangam – 4 tracks of sub zero vibes.

From the excellent Mad Decent label comes this jeffrees release from Bwana – Tight sounds.

Moving on we have a bass heavy number in ‘Still Love You’ by Heims Noise. Hailing from Sheffield and you know we love our Northern producers, pick this up as we’re not sure how long it’s going to be available for.

Finally there’s a frankly awesome Sade remix of ‘Pearls’ by duo Ab-Cent and Elski. Download limit already reached on Ab-Cents soundcloud page but theres still chance to bag it from Elski. Dig it.

Kusto | Pyongyang EP

Bank Holiday weekends can take it out of you, but hearing Kusto’s new vibes helped sort my tattered mental into a more manageable mess for the working week. Available on a ‘name your price’ basis from bandcamp (give generously) the Pyongyang EP stretches from ethereal atmospheres to rhythmic club bass. There’s a nod to the mainstream on ‘Raquel’ too which features an anonymous female vocalist crooning somewhat inappropriately over a dark sounding beat. The last track ‘Keep Rackin” ticks all the dancefloor boxes making this a formidable varied release. Pay as much as you are able and help the artist by sharing to your mates.

Earl Grey*

On the Robot Bodypop show we like to feature up and coming producers and this week Mancunian Earl Grey caught our ears with a little freebie he popped off. Checking out his other tunes was a treat. Soulfull vibes are present through out and each track making the best use of space available. Smooth chords and use of harmonies make these deep tracks instant favourites in ‘ere. ‘Untitled 145’ and ‘Lone Wavelength’ are personal favourites. Check out the tracks on his Soundcloud and also pick up the mighty Amen roller ‘Trapped Nerve’ featured on this weeks Robot Bodypop show.

Free Tunes

It’s a bit of a giveaway extravaganza this week. In fact there isn’t even wriggling space as we have packed  our mixes  jam tight with.. tight jams (yeah wot) and gathered them all here just for you the listeners. We want you to know that we care.

First up its some sweet 2009 vibes from Sleeper named ‘Blame It On The Voices’. Moody and deep as you would expect and it comes alongside 3 other jams that you can pick up from the Hedmuk blog.

Pick up all 4 here @ the Hedmuk blog

Next up its some soulful 140 vibes from Canada with the mighty ‘Stroke’ by SOUL Muu-Szik. Summer vibes on this one. Bag it and check out his other cuts there on Soundcloud.

Moving on it’s some tit-for-tat remix shenanigans from Darquan and Amit. Amit up first remixing the seminal ‘Warrior Dance’ by Darquan

And then Darquan up with a rolling badman take of Amits ‘Dirty White Trash’

Neither likely to feature on Soundcloud for very long but theres a ton of sites with links to either tune so Google could be your friend if they disappear from there.

Next it’s dirty 180bpm business from newcomer Iant. aka Ian Taylor – He’s done this VIP of the ‘Oil Slick’ cut and made it available for free via rudebass.com. It’s some techy minimal vibes – grab it here.

Next up, more of the high BPMs from the legendary Concord Dawn who have just not stopped making banging drum and bass since their heyday in the late 90’s and early 00’s. Grab ‘ElectroCute’ on soundcloud.

And finally, another newcomer on the Robot Bodypop – With a name like the Mad Zion-tist we really did not know what to expect. ‘Mind Driven’ completely blew us away. It’s already one of my favourites.

More freeness on the way from Killian once he’s cleared up the days excrement and tears.
