Divergent Thinking | Free EP | Bandcamp

A collaborative release from Kee, Dimitri & Dekoi has pricked our ears this week. Released for free on the Divergent Thinking imprint, this chilled and thoughtful release crosses a range of genres.

Kee‘s opening track is a euphoric atmosphere-drenched trip hop number. Dekoi‘s jazz influences and old school production values hold their own here with a diverse set of tracks from ‘Drifting’ – a smooth-as-you-like liquid DnB joint with a rainy afternoon feel – right through to the more jump-up garage sound of ‘Not A Cloud’. Dimitri comes from a more experimental standpoint with ‘Jazz Cafe’ bringing meandering piano melodies and distorted percussion. ‘Nitelites’ busted drums and driven bass is laced with sampled vocals and more of a synth-feel. Dimitri also lends his distinctive bass sound to Kee‘s opener.

This soothing EP will keep you cool on those hot summer nights and is well worth a download. Grab it and keep an ear out for future releases.

METRODOME – Natural Flavour preview – Free EP forthcoming

Metrodome – The name has reverberated throughout Manchester circles for nearly ten years, and yet the protagonist is only 17 years old. His first gig was a Hip Hop set at Manchester’s Contact Theatre. It was 2002 and Ruud Whiting was still only 8 years old busting intricate DJ maneuvers and stunning the crowd with his skills behind the turntables. Since then he has rocked capacity crowds in some of Manchester’s biggest nightclubs – He was at Sankey’s Soap in 2006 supporting Rahzel and JS-1 and more recently a dubstep set at Hit & Run in 2009 supporting the massive act Flux Pavillion – yet after the show it was Metrodome with the ratings. The little scamp, he just cant help but impress.

Keep eyes locked on this blog for details of his upcoming free EP and peep this exclusive preview of the first track, a stunningly futuristic garage head nodder from a true natural talent.

RESO – Free EP #2

RESO is a bit of a anomaly in the Dubstep world. Having started out in music playing drums in Rock bands, he only became interested in production at around 18 messing about on hip hop e-jay (we’ve all got to start somewhere) and when he finally got hold of a copy of Logic and a computer and started to push – in his words – ‘crappy breaks and D&B’, he was 21 years old. Since then his skills have developed and grown, planting him on firm ground in the dubstep world where he is now celebrated as one of the pioneers.

This is RESO’s second free e.p. and decidedly deeper than some of his earlier offerings. We are loving the Mario Kart inspired cover art! Sign up to the mailing list here to grab a copy now!
