nonXero – Black Art

Set to drop on the 2nd June, US DJ & producer nonXero draws inspiration from reggae, grime, dubstep and future garage for this release on In The Mix records. ‘Black Art’ will be nonXeros 3rd album and its a reflection of his time spent in Detroit, Michigan. Wanting to identify the relationship between art, music and urban culture, nonXero uses samples recorded by himself to illustrate what he calls his ‘adventures’. Several stand out tracks such as the ‘Down Under’ VIP and ‘Will You Be Mine’ but its a solid collection of tracks that builds and builds. Bag it.

Also be sure to check out his soundcloud page as theres a stack of music on there.

Jakwob- The Prize

Jakwob moves away from the heavy dubstep he’s gained a following for with this excellent 10 track album which he’s made available through Jakwob.com. This freebie entitled ‘The Prize’ also comes with its own share of guests most notably Kano, Ghostpoet & Youngman. The vibe is chilled and minimal but theres still plenty of low end bass in there and we love it. Incredible music to be giving away for free. Get it on your system and get out in the sun. The track ‘Island’ with Ghostpoet and ‘Let It Fall’ featuring Rocky Nti are favourites in ‘ere.

Käärkäsi – Hypno EP | Lejal Globe

We featured Estonian artist Kusto on this blog recently and it would appear word has been spreading throughout the local music scene over there –  this  just dropped into our inbox courtesy of Käärkäsi (another name I’m inevitably going to pronounce wrong).

The theme is basement-thumping dark garage reminiscent of Zed Bias and El-B‘s earlier work. Filthy undertones are punctuated by moments of melodic bliss, but you won’t relax for long – the persistent development of skippy rhythms and the grubby sub bass grinding away underneath keep your limbs moving. For that reason in particular, this little lot are going straight into the ‘playing out’ folder.

Released under the Lejal Globe imprint, you can grab all 5 tracks on iTunes or Amazon, or if you would rather get a 320 or wav (and why not) they are available on Juno. Preview the whole thing below via Soundcloud. Go on then!

Free Beats

A varied selection up for grabs this week but as fresh as always and most importantly, legal. Robot Bodypop is a hotbed for links to free riddims in case you didn’t know. but you do now.

Up first is a chilled number from our very first guest on the Transmit Sessions, Controlled Kaos. It’s some months old now but we’ve never played it and it is a great track, so here it is.

We are loving Kusto’s output at the moment. A spate of free tunes is complimented by this latest VIP available via soundcloud. Check it.

And we have something a bit special this week. Ahead of their new single coming out on Moshi Moshi next Friday bass music badmen Hot City have crafted this rerub of Nas’ track ‘The Don’, and it is fresh as a bagel. Pick it up here. Keep your ears pricked for more releases, as these guys are dancefloor kings!

Next it’s Baobinga, Kahn and Rider Shafique with ‘Original’ courtesy of the Red Bull Music Academy. A fresh vocal cut and I’m not sure how long its going to be up for free so bag it while you can.

Lastly, on a more experimental tip is the free EP from Acre with the Be Mine In Outer Space EP.’Deaf Ears/ Swirling Lights’ features on this weeks show because its wicked, frankly.

Just how sick is Bandcamp for freebies? Very.

NDREAD – Everything | ICU Audio

Much like chocolate gateaux, Garage is at its best when it’s chilled and crispy. That’s certainly the case for this amazing new release from 2-step producer and SUB FM DJ Ndread. Rolling in with the retro-esque ‘Everything’ we are bounced along nicely into the beautiful soulful vocal mix of the track ‘Apologies’. This is then complemented by the instrumental to round off the release. You can preview our favourite track from this release below, and buy the whole thing from Juno here.

Free Beats

Just a few tracks for free this week but they are varied, solid and more importantly legal because thats how we roll on the Robot Bodypop show. Digging out the freebies so you don’t have to.

First up is a deep dubstep track from young Accrington based Epoxy named ‘Cut Off’. Clean production and fierce sounds make this a must-have. Bag it from the Autopsy Audio Soundcloud page and there’s plenty of other free cuts on there too. Indulge.

Next up is another example of why Bandcamp is a badman source for music both free and paid. ‘Sun For Days’ by Fetch features on this weeks Robot Bodypop show and comes part of a 5 track E.P entitled The Formula Vol.1. Summer vibes going on with some slick guitar hooks. Lovely warm riddim. You can bag it for free but it’s nice to chuck these guys even just a quid for their trouble. Do it. Do it now. All 5 cuts are dope.

Get involved.
