FutureEverything Festival 16th – 19th May 2012 Mcr

FutureEverything is all about discovering and celebrating the latest developments at the intersection of art and technology. We find and share with you the small sparks that grow into fresh ways of seeing the world.

This gig sounds right up our street – A celebration of Art, Music and Technology based mainly in and around the grounds of Manchester’s famed Science & Industry Museum. Details are still to be confirmed regards the schedule but one confirmed event on the billboard which we will be sure not to miss is Amon Tobin‘s impromptu performance to the North of England at the Manchester Academy on the 19th of May. We recently commiserated missing him in London last year, so this one-off performance is somewhat uncanny!

It’s £25 plus fees for entry, or if you want you can buy a special limited edition wrist band for £55 from here which will grant access to all music events under the FutureEverything banner between the 16th and 19th of May. That also includes VIP access at the Amon Tobin gig. We’ll see you in there shall we?

See http://www.futureeverything.org for more details.

Skream – Freeizm History

So this is the final Freeizm from Skream featuring a selection of tracks he made from 2007 – 2009. There’s a couple of nice surprises in there too – Make sure you’ve got the full series; grab volume 1 plus 2 & 3 and this last one equals 4. Big up Skream!!

The Smashment – Mancunian Way & DJ Mark XTC NYE 2011

New Years Eve approaches and hundreds upon thousands of bass-hungry
Mancunians are looking for somewhere to skank their boots off into 2012. They need look no further. This night of positive vibes looks back over 20 years of clubbing history – from Ragga Dancehalls in Jamaica to Acid raves at the Hacienda!

Unity Radio‘s Sunday regulars the pRp Show will be kicking off proceedings with their Punky Reggae Party at around 10pm, so don’t be late – DJ’s Eezer, Tommy T and Dylan Reed will be bringing positive vibes from early doors with a funky medley of Roots, Ragga, Soul and Hip Hop.

Mancunian Way’s Marlon De Blanco will be hitting up the decks as we move into the midnight hour with back to back Club Classics. Here he is displaying his Old Skool credentials in the Hardcore Uproar music video featuring Trigga & Sushi (he’s the one in the acid face T-Shirt).

1NEJACK comes in later on with an explosive hour of up front 90’s Garage and Drum & Bass sounds. For those who miss the good old days of clubbing, when tunes were tunes, this is going to bring out some great memories. For those who missed out on the 2-step revolution the first time round, here is where you can get your education!!

Then finally from 1am the legendary DJ Mark XTC will be blowing the doors off the mother sucka with a HUGE Old Skool House set as seen at Eurocultured – Expect to hear tunes to excite your inner raver; It’s going to be like 1999 all over again!

METRODOME – Natural Flavour preview – Free EP forthcoming

Metrodome – The name has reverberated throughout Manchester circles for nearly ten years, and yet the protagonist is only 17 years old. His first gig was a Hip Hop set at Manchester’s Contact Theatre. It was 2002 and Ruud Whiting was still only 8 years old busting intricate DJ maneuvers and stunning the crowd with his skills behind the turntables. Since then he has rocked capacity crowds in some of Manchester’s biggest nightclubs – He was at Sankey’s Soap in 2006 supporting Rahzel and JS-1 and more recently a dubstep set at Hit & Run in 2009 supporting the massive act Flux Pavillion – yet after the show it was Metrodome with the ratings. The little scamp, he just cant help but impress.

Keep eyes locked on this blog for details of his upcoming free EP and peep this exclusive preview of the first track, a stunningly futuristic garage head nodder from a true natural talent.
